Biography
Craig D. Owens - Bassist / Vocalist / Producer
Born in Detroit, Craig grew up in Florida, Virginia and Southern California. His Mom and dad were both classically trained instrumentalists as well as talented vocalist. Craig was raised listening to everything from Mozart to Motown with Duke Ellington and Bill Munro thrown in for good measure. He started studying music in junior high school, performed in high school and college jazz bands and played gigs through the 70s in clubs up and down the west coast.
In the early 80s, Craig met and started playing Bass with the NOB.S. band in Laguna Beach. Through those wonderful people, he was fortunate to attend the Theo Verlin School of Voice. In ’84, the move North from Orange County was made and he settled in Santa Cruz. Living and working for the last 30+ years has led to collaboration and friendship with many of the finest musicians and writers in the business. There he met Columbia Recording Artist, Lacy J. Dalton, who asked him to join her band. He has enjoyed the last 26 years of touring, writing and recording with Lacy and the Dalton Gang.
At the start of the New Millennium, Craig worked with musician, author and movie producer, Michael Nesmith and the band Ranch Dressing, on the “real life stage” of Video Ranch. VR3D, as it is known to people around the world, is an online, in-world, real-time live performance stage on the internet. Craig, along with guitarist and producer Jimmy Jackson, spent over 18 months playing 75 live shows of “Bluestronica” for online fans. Cultivating a fan base from Paris, Tennessee to Paris, France; from South Carolina to South Korea.
